Notice: Do not run the engine without the oil pump drive in place. This will cause extensive engine damage.
Important: When replacing the oil pump drive gear, always use a new gasket.
Important: Clean the bore and apply a small amount of clean engine oil before installing the oil pump drive gear. Do not force the oil pump drive gear into place. The oil pump drive gear should slide into place with slight resistance.
• | Index the drive with the camshaft gear. |
• | Make sure the oil pump drive gear is fully seated before installing the retaining clamp and bolt. |
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).
