Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the trim panel. Refer to Rear Door Trim Panel Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 264385  Size: SH
  3. Remove the latch assembly cover(1) bolts(2).
  4. Remove the latch assembly seal(5).
  5. Remove the lock rods from the lock assembly.
  6. Mark the location of the latch assembly on the liftgate.

  7. Remove the latch assembly(4) bolts(3).
  8. Remove the latch assembly(4) from the liftgate.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the latch assembly(4) and the seal(5) to the liftgate.
  2. Align the assembly to the marks on the liftgate inner panel.

  3. Install the lock rods to the latch assembly(4).
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the latch assembly bolts(3).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the latch assembly bolts(3) to the liftgate to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  7. Install the latch assembly cover(1).
  8. The cover must be installed with both gates closed for proper alignment.

  9. Install the latch assembly cover bolts(2) to the liftgate.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the cover bolts to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  11. Install the trim panel. Refer to Rear Door Trim Panel Replacement .
