Removal Procedure

J 42477 Fill Valve Filter Tool


    Object Number: 296463  Size: SH
  1. Remove the fill valve. Refer to Fill Valve Replacement .
  2. Remove the fill valve filter fitting (3). Discard the O-ring (2).
  3. Remove the fill valve filter (1) using the J 42477 by turning it counterclockwise.
  4. Clean the filter in solvent.
  5. Blow dry the filter with compressed air.
  6. Ensure that the filter passages are clear. Replace if necessary.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the filter (1) using the J 42477 by turning it clockwise.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the fill valve filter fitting (3) using a new O-ring (2). Lubricate the O-ring with petroleum jelly or equivalent.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 48 N·m (35 lb ft).

  5. Install the fill valve. Refer to Fill Valve Replacement .
