Removal Procedure
- Remove the oil filter
from the engine block. Refer to
Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement
.
- Use a screwdriver in order to remove the oil filter bypass valve.
- Use the following steps in order to remove the oil cooler bypass
valve:
3.1. | Install a 4.8 mm (3/16 in) sheet metal screw into
the hole in the cup plug. |
3.2. | Use two heel bars in order to remove the cup plug. |
3.3. | Use a slide hammer in order to remove the oil cooler bypass valve. |
- Clean the recess in the block.
Installation Procedure
- Use the following steps
in order to install the oil cooler bypass valve:
• | Use a socket in order to drive the bypass valve into the bore. |
• | Drive in the bypass valve until it is seated on the shoulder in
the bore. |
- Install the cup plug for the oil cooler bypass valve.
The cup plug has an orifice hole that prevents an air lock from occurring.
An air lock will block the oil flow.
- Install the oil filter bypass valve. Use a socket to drive the
oil filter bypass valve into the bore until it seats against the shoulder
in the bore.
- Install the oil filter on the engine block. Refer to
