Notice: If the boot to wire movement has occurred, the boot will give a false visual impression of being fully seated. Ensure that the boots have been properly assembled by pushing sideways on the installed boots. Failure to properly seat the terminal onto the spark plug will lead to wire core erosion and result in an engine misfire or crossfire condition, and possible internal damage to the engine.
Important: A stiff spark plug boot with only slight looseness idicates proper installation of the spark plug wires. If the terminal is not properly seated on the spark plug, only the resistance of the spark plug boot will be felt when pushing sideways.
Important: Spark plug wire routings must remain intact during service. Follow the
spark plug routings exactly when spark plug wires when reconnecting or replacing
the spark plug wires. Improper spark plug wire routing may cause the following
conditions:
• Radio noise • Crossfiring of the spark plugs • Shorting of the leads to ground.
