Removal Procedure
Tools Required
J 23523-F Crankshaft
Balancer Remover
- Disconnect the battery
negative cable. Refer to
Battery Cable Replacement
in Engine Electrical.
- Remove the fan shrouds from the radiator. Refer to
Fan Shroud Replacement
in Engine Cooling.
- Remove the drive belt from the vehicle. Refer to
Drive Belt Replacement
.
- Remove the cooling fan from the water pump. Refer to
Fan Replacement
in Engine Cooling.
- Remove the crankshaft pulley from the crankshaft balancer.
- Remove the crankshaft
balancer bolt and the washer.
- Use the J 23523-F
and remove the crankshaft balancer
from the crankshaft.
Installation Procedure
Tools Required
J 23523-F Crankshaft
Balancer Remover
- Apply clean engine oil
to all of the sealing surfaces.
- Ensure that the key is in the keyway.
- Use a mallet in order to tap the crankshaft balancer on the crankshaft.
- Use the J 23523-F
and install the crankshaft balancer.
- Remove theJ 23523-F
from the crankshaft balancer.
- Install the crankshaft
balancer bolt and washer.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Tighten the crankshaft balancer bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the crankshaft balancer bolt to 270 N·m (200 lb ft).
- Install the crankshaft
pulley to the crankshaft balancer.
Tighten
Tighten the pulley bolts to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).
- Install the cooling fan to the water pump pulley. Refer to
Fan Replacement
in Engine Cooling.
- Install the drive belt on the pulleys. Refer to
Drive Belt Replacement
.
- Install the fan shrouds to the radiator. Refer to
Fan Shroud Replacement
in Engine Cooling.
- Connect the battery negative cables to the batteries. Refer to
Battery Cable Replacement
in Engine Electrical.
