Disassembly Procedure

Tools Required

    • J 23653-SIR Lock Plate Compressor
    • J 23653-91 Lock Plate Compressor Adapter

    Object Number: 376286 Size: SH
  1. Remove the steering wheel (1). Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .

    2. Object Number: 343728 Size: SH
  2. Compress the turn signal cancel cam assembly using J 23653-91 and J 23653-SIR .
  3. Remove the bearing retainer from the steering shaft assembly.
  4. Dispose of the bearing retainer.
  5. Remove J 23653-91 and J 23653-SIR .

    6. Object Number: 354109 Size: SH
  6. Remove the steering shaft spacer from the steering shaft assembly (1).
  7. Remove the turn signal cancel cam assembly from the steering shaft assembly (2).
  8. Remove the upper bearing spring (3) from the steering shaft assembly.

Assembly Procedure

Tools Required

    • J 23653-SIR Lock Plate Compressor
    • J 23653-91 Lock Plate Compressor Adapter

    Object Number: 343823 Size: SH
  1. Align the block tooth on the steering shaft assembly to the 12 o'clock position.

    2. Object Number: 354110 Size: SH
  2. Install the upper bearing spring (3) onto the steering shaft assembly.
  3. Lubricate the turn signal cancel cam assembly (2) with lithium grease.
  4. Install the turn signal cancel cam assembly (2) onto the steering shaft assembly.
  5. Install the steering shaft spacer (1) onto the steering shaft assembly.

    6. Object Number: 343728 Size: SH
  6. Compress the turn signal cancel cam assembly using J 23653-91 and J 23653-SIR .
  7. Install the new bearing retainer into the groove on the steering shaft assembly.
  8. Remove J 23653-91 and J 23653-SIR .

    9. Object Number: 376286 Size: SH
  9. Install the steering wheel (1). Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
