The engine coolant heater preheats the cooling system in order to aid cold weather starting.
Two engine coolant heaters are available:
• | A 600 watt engine coolant heater is available for gasoline engines. The 600 watt engine coolant heater is located on the right side of the engine block. |
• | A 1000 watt engine coolant heater is used on the Caterpillar® 3126 diesel engine. The Caterpillar® 3126 diesel engine coolant heater is located on the right side of the engine block. |
The engine coolant heater is a heating element that is inserted through one of the coolant jacket holes in the engine block. The heating unit base is precisely machined. A rubber O-ring seals the heater to the coolant jacket. A detachable 3-wire electrical cord supplies 120 volts AC to the heating element.
A cord cap protects the engine coolant heater electrical plug when the plug is not in use.
