Brake Pads Replacement Front, Bendix

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 209267  Size: SH
  1. Remove the brake caliper (5). Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement .
  2. Remove the inner brake pad from the brake caliper mounting plate (4).

  3. Object Number: 22104  Size: SH
  4. Slide the outer brake pad along the rail in the brake caliper housing to the notches.
  5. Remove the outer brake pad.

Installation Procedure

  1. Inspect the brake caliper. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 22104  Size: SH
  3. Install the outer brake pad into the brake caliper housing.
  4. Install the inner brake pad onto the brake caliper mounting plate.

  5. Object Number: 209267  Size: SH
  6. Install the brake caliper (5). Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement .

Brake Pads Replacement Front, Dayton-Walther

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 209264  Size: SH
  1. Remove the brake caliper (5). Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 22102  Size: SH
  3. Remove the brake pad retainer spring.

  4. Object Number: 200256  Size: SH
  5. Slide the outer brake pad along the rail in the brake caliper housing to the notches.
  6. Remove the outer brake pad.
  7. Slide the inner brake pad along the rail in the brake caliper housing to the notches.
  8. Remove the inner brake pad.

Installation Procedure

  1. Inspect the brake caliper. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 200256  Size: SH
  3. Install the inner brake pad.
  4. Install the outer brake pad.

  5. Object Number: 22102  Size: SH
  6. Install a new brake pad retainer spring.
  7. If the service kit includes extra springs, discard the springs.

  8. Object Number: 209264  Size: SH
  9. Install the brake caliper (5). Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement .

Brake Pads Replacement Rear, Fixed-Mount

Removal Procedure

  1. Apply the parking brake.
  2. Block the wheels.
  3. Raise and support the vehicle with safety stands. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle . in General Information.
  4. Remove the tires and wheels. Refer to the applicable procedure in Tires and Wheels:
  5. • Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Disc Type-Single Front/Rear)
    • Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Disc Type-Dual)
    • Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Cast Type-Single Front/Rear)
    • Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Cast Type-Dual)
  6. Remove the brake pad retainer spring bolt.
  7. Remove the brake pad retainer spring.
  8. Remove the inboard side of the rear brake pad.
  9. Push back the pistons on the inboard side of the brake caliper.

  11. Push back the pistons on the outboard side of the brake caliper.

  12. Object Number: 22105  Size: SH
  13. Remove the inboard brake pad.
  14. Remove the outboard brake pad.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 200274  Size: SH
  1. Install the new inboard rear brake pad.
  2. Install the new outboard rear brake pad.
  3. Install the brake pad retainer spring.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the brake pad retainer spring bolt.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the brake pad retainer spring bolt to 41 N·m (30 lb ft).

    Important: Check the fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir after pumping the brake pedal.

  7. Pump the brake pedal several times in order to ensure that the pedal is firm and the brake linings are adjusted.
  8. Install the tires and wheels. Refer to the applicable procedure in Tires and Wheels:

    • Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Disc Type-Dual)
    • Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Cast Type-Single Front/Rear)
    • Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (Cast Type-Dual)
  10. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  11. Remove the wheel blocks.

Brake Pads Replacement Rear, Bendix Rail Slider

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 209279  Size: SH
  1. Remove the brake caliper (5). Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement .
  2. Remove the inner brake pad from the brake caliper mounting plate (1).

  3. Object Number: 22104  Size: SH
  4. Slide the outer brake pad along the rail in the brake caliper housing to the notches.
  5. Remove the outer brake pad.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 22104  Size: SH
  1. Install the outer brake pad into the brake caliper housing.
  2. Install the inner brake pad onto the brake caliper mounting plate.

  3. Object Number: 209279  Size: SH
  4. Install the brake caliper (5). Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement .
