Removal Procedure

  1. Apply the parking brake.
  2. Block the wheels.
  3. Drain all of the air reservoirs.
  4. Refer to Draining Reservoirs in Air Brakes.

  5. Remove the governor air line. Refer to Air Compressor Replacement .
  6. Remove the governor bolts and the washers.

  7. Object Number: 200539  Size: SH
  8. Remove the governor.
  9. Remove the governor gasket.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the governor gasket.
  2. Install the governor.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the governor washers and the bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the governor bolts to 21 N·m (15 lb ft).

  6. Install the governor air line.
  7. Start the engine.
  8. Adjust the cut-in and the cut-out pressures if needed. Refer to Air Compressor Governor Valve Adjustment .
  9. Inspect for leaks. Refer to Air Brake System Testing in Air Brakes.
  10. Inspect for the proper brake operation.
  11. Remove the wheel blocks.
