Air Compressor Gear Replacement Gasoline Engine

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the air compressor belt. Refer to In Engine Drive Belt Replacement. Drive Belt Replacement .
  2. Remove the air compressor pulley nut (5) and the air compressor pulley washer from the crankshaft.
  3. Remove the air compressor pulley (6).
  4. Inspect the air compressor gear mounting for wear or damage.
  5. Replace the air compressor if any damage is detected to the air compressor pulley mounting surface or the keyway.
  6. Inspect the air compressor belt for wear or damage. Replace the air compressor belt as needed.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the air compressor pulley (6).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the air compressor pulley washer and the air compressor pulley nut (5) onto the crankshaft.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the air compressor pulley nut to 140 N·m (103 lb ft).

  5. Install the air compressor belt.
