Power Steering Pump Front Bracket Replacement Saginaw
Removal Procedure
- Remove the power steering drive belt. Refer toDrive Belt Replacement
- Remove the power steering pump from the accessory bracket. Refer
to
Power Steering Pump Replacement
- Remove the bolts (3) from
the accessory bracket
(2).
- Remove the accessory bracket (2) from the engine block.
Installation Procedure
- Install the accessory
bracket (2) to the engine
block (1).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the accessory
bracket bolts (3) to the cylinder head.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 50 N·m(37 lb ft).
- Install the power steering pump to the accessory bracket. Refer
to
Power Steering Pump Replacement
.
- Install the drive belt. Refer toDrive Belt Replacement

Removal Procedure
- Remove the power steering drive belt.
- Remove the power steering pump pulley (5). Refer to
Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement
.
- Remove the following from
the front bracket:
• | The adjusting bracket (8) |
- Remove the following from
the engine:
• | The three washers (8, 2) |
Installation Procedure

- Install following
to the engine:
• | The three washers (8, 2) |
Tighten
• | Tighten the front bracket spacer bolt to 54 N·m (40 lb ft).
|
• | Tighten the front bracket to engine bolt to 108 N·m
(80 lb ft).
|
- Install the following
to the front bracket (2):
• | The adjusting bracket (8) |
- Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to
Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement
.
- Install the power steering drive belt.
