Power Steering Pump Rear Bracket Replacement Saginaw

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 218946  Size: LH
  1. Remove the two nuts (3) that mount the pump (1) to the rear brace (4).
  2. Remove the following components from the engine:
  3. 2.1. The bolt (5)
    2.2. The pump rear brace (4)

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 218946  Size: LH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the rear pump brace (4) to the engine with the bolt (5).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the brace to engine bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  3. Install the two nuts (3) that mount the pump to the pump rear brace (4).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the brace to pump nut (3) to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

Power Steering Pump Rear Bracket Replacement Hobourn With LP4 or L21

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the two nuts (3) and washers (2) from the rear bracket (1).

  2. Object Number: 227962  Size: SH
  3. Remove the following from the engine block:
  4. • The two bolts
    • The two washers
    • The rear bracket

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 227962  Size: SH
  1. Install the rear bracket (1) to the power steering pump with four washers, and two nuts. Do not tighten at this time.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the two washers (2) and the bolts (3) securing the rear bracket (1) to the engine.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the rear bracket engine bolts (3) to 37 N·m (27 lb ft).

  5. Tighten the rear bracket (1) to power steering pump nuts
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the rear bracket to power steering pump nuts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  7. Check the adjustment of the power steering pump belt. Refer to Engine Cooling.
