For 1990-2009 cars only
- Lubricate and install the bearing assembly (1).
- Install the bearing retaining bushing (2).
- Install the upper bearing retainer (3).
- Install the 3 pan head 6-lobed socket screws (3) through the bowl assembly (2), and into the lock housing cover assembly (1).
- Install the floor shift bowl (3) with the lock housing cover assembly (2) onto the steering column jacket assembly (4). The switch actuator rod should still be attached.
- Install the 4 hex washer head tapping screws (1) into the lock housing cover assembly (2).
- Install the thrust washer.
- Install the steering column lock cylinder set. Refer to Steering Column Lock Cylinder Set - Assemble - Off Vehicle .
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten screws to 3.5 N·m (31 lb in).
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 5.3 N·m (47 lb in).
