Tools Required

    • J 41352 Holding Fixture
    • J 23653-SIR Lock Plate Compressor

    Object Number: 343711 Size: SH
  1. Set the steering column and J 41352 into a vise.

    2. Important: Align the block tooth on the race and upper shaft assembly to the 12 o'clock position.

  2. Place the ignition switch in the LOCK position and remove the key.
  3. Check the steering column jacket assembly for accident damage. Refer to Steering Column Accident Damage Inspection - Off Vehicle .
  4. If necessary, remove the wire harness assembly strap (1) and any other wire harness straps.

    5. Object Number: 343728 Size: SH
  5. Remove and dispose the bearing retainer using J 23653-SIR .

    6. Object Number: 382883 Size: SH
  6. Remove the steering shaft spacer (1).
  7. Remove the turn signal cancel cam (2).
  8. Remove the upper bearing spring (3).
