Removal Procedure
Important: If the in-line filter is plugged, inspect the fuel tank internally and
clean the filter if necessary. Refer to
Fuel System Cleaning
.
Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing
any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to
the vehicle or its components.
- Disconnect
the negative battery cable.
- Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to
Fuel Pressure Relief
.
- Remove the fuel feed and
return pipes (1,2) at the filter (4).
- Remove the in-line filter clamp attaching hardware from the compartment
box bracket (3).
- Remove the clamp from the filter (4).
Installation Procedure
- Remove the protective caps from the new filter.
- Install the clamp on to
the filter (4).
- Install the in-line filter clamp attaching hardware.
Install the filter (4) in same positions as on the old filter observing
the direction of the fuel flow arrow on to the compartment box bracket (3).
- Install the fuel feed and return pipes (1, 2) to the filter.
- Connect the negative battery cable.
- Check for fuel leaks using the following procedure:
6.1. | Turn the ignition switch to ON position for 2 seconds. |
6.2. | Turn the ignition switch to OFF for 10 seconds. |
6.3. | Turn the ignition switch to ON position. |
6.4. | Check for fuel leaks. |
