Important: This procedure adjusts the steering column selector PRNDL pointer to
the center of the selector shift indicator letter.
• | Do not perform this procedure in order to adjust the shift cable.
If the cable needs adjustment, refer to
Shift Cable Adjustment

• | Do not remove the steering wheel in order to perform this procedure.
The steering wheel is not shown in the following illustration for this procedure
only in order to enhance the illustration clarity. |
- Ensure proper shift cable adjustment. Refer to
Shift Cable Adjustment
.
- Position the shift selector
lever to the N position.
- Note the position of the PRNDL pointer. If the pointer is not
positioned at the center of the N:
3.1. | Loosen the pointer needle retaining screw. |
3.2. | Adjust the pointer to the center of the N. |
3.3. | Tighten the pointer needle retaining screw. |
- Position the shift selector to the D position and then to the
R position.
4.1. | The pointer should point to a portion of the D when in drive. |
4.2. | The pointer should point to a portion of the R when in reverse. |
- If the pointer does not point to a portion of the D or the R,
perform the following steps:
5.3. | Note the position of the PRNDL pointer. If the pointer is not
positioned at the center of the N: |
5.3.1. | Loosen the pointer needle retaining screw. |
5.3.2. | Adjust the pointer to the center of the N. |
5.3.3. | Tighten the pointer needle retaining screw. |
5.4. | Shift the shift selector to the R, N, and D. Adjust the pointer
as necessary. |
5.5. | Connect the shift cable to the transmission. |
- Start the engine.
- Test the shift operation of the transmission.
