Removal Procedure
- Remove the steering column
filler panel.
- Place the ignition switch in the "LOCK" position and
remove the key.
- Disconnect the electrical
connector.
- Remove the hexagon nut (4) from the dimmer and ignition
switch mounting stud.
- Remove the washer head screw (3).
- Remove the dimmer switch actuator rod (5) out of the slot
on the dimmer switch assembly (2).
- Remove the dimmer switch assembly (2) from the ignition
switch assembly (1).
Installation Procedure
- Install the dimmer switch
assembly (2) onto the ignition switch assembly (1).
Important: You must remove all the lash from the dimmer switch actuator rod before
tightening any screws.
- Install the dimmer switch actuator rod (5) into the slot on the
dimmer switch assembly (2).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the washer
head screw (3).
- Install the hexagon nut (4) onto the dimmer and ignition
switch mounting stud.
Tighten
• | Tighten the screw to 4 N·m (35 lb in). |
• | Tighten the nut to 4 N·m (35 lb in). |
- Connect the electrical connector.
- Install the steering column
filler panel.
