Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the steering column filler panel.

  2. Object Number: 378830  Size: SH
  3. Remove the hexagon nut (4) from the dimmer and ignition switch mounting stud.
  4. Remove the dimmer switch rod (5).
  5. Remove the washer head screw (3).
  6. Remove the dimmer switch assembly (2) from the ignition switch actuator assembly (1).

  8. Remove the dimmer and ignition switch mounting stud (3).
  9. Remove the ignition switch assembly (2) from the steering column jacket assembly (1).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 378838  Size: SH
  1. Install the ignition switch assembly (2) onto the steering column jacket assembly (1).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the dimmer and ignition switch mounting stud (3).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the stud to 4 N·m (35 lb in).

  5. Guide the rod (5) into the switch and install the dimmer switch assembly (2) onto the ignition switch actuator assembly (1).
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.   7. Install the washer head screw (3).
  8. Tighten

        • Tighten the screw to 4 N·m (35 lb  in).
        • Tighten the nut to 4 N·m (35 lb in).
  9. Install the hexagon nut (4) onto the dimmer and ignition switch mounting stud.

  11. Install the steering column filler panel.
