Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement - Left Side , or Fuel Tank Replacement - Right Side .

  2. Object Number: 727771  Size: SH
  3. Remove the six nuts (1) and washers (2) from the fuel sender assembly retaining ring .
  4. Remove the fuel sender assembly retaining ring (3).
  5. Remove the fuel sender assembly (4).
  6. Caution: In order to reduce the risk of fire and personal injury that may result from a fuel leak, always replace the fuel sender gasket when reinstalling the fuel sender assembly.

  7. Remove the fuel sender assembly seal from the fuel tank.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the fuel sender assembly seal to the fuel tank.
  2. Notice: Do not fold or twist the strainer when installing the sending unit. This action restricts fuel flow.

  3. Care should be taken not to fold over or twist the strainer when installing the sender assembly as this will restrict fuel flow.

  4. Object Number: 727771  Size: SH
  5. Install the fuel sender assembly (4) in the fuel tank.
  6. Install the fuel sender assembly lock ring (3) to the fuel tank, make sure the lock ring alignment holes fit over the tabs on the tank (8).
  7. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Install the six washers (2) and nuts (1) retaining the fuel sender assembly lock ring.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the lock ring nuts to 11.5 N·m (102 lb in).

  10. Install the fuel tank (8). Refer to Fuel Tank Replacement - Left Side or Fuel Tank Replacement - Right Side .
