Removal Procedure
- Set the park brake and block the rear wheels.
- Remove the following components
which connect the stabilizer shaft (5) with the stabilizer links (10):
- Remove the U-bolt nuts (7) and the washers (6).
- Remove the clamps (19) and the U-bolts (3).
- Remove the shaft assembly (5) from the axle (4).
- Remove the insulators (2) from the stabilizer shaft (5), if necessary.
Installation Procedure
- Install the insulators
(2), if removed.
- Install the shaft (5) to the links (10).
- Loosely install the following components:
- Attach the shaft (5) to the axle (4).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Attach the following
components:
Tighten
• | Tighten the front stabilizer shaft U-bolt nuts to 24 N·m
(18 lb ft). Tighten the nuts alternately and evenly until the
clamp contacts the axle beam on both the top and the bottom.
|
• | Tighten the front stabilizer shaft link mounting bolt nut to 240 N·m
(177 lb ft).
|
- Remove the wheel blocks.
