Service the air compressor air strainer filter, if equipped. Refer to Air Compressor Air Strainer Filter Replacement .

  1. Check all of the air compressor bracket fasteners for looseness.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Tighten the air compressor bracket fasteners as needed. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .
  4. Check the following components for looseness and tighten as needed. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications .
  5. • The air compressor oil inlet hose
    • The air compressor oil outlet hose gasoline engine
    • The air compressor water inlet hose
    • The air compressor water outlet hose
    • The air compressor air inlet hose diesel engine
    • The air compressor discharge pipe
  6. Check the air compressor belt tension.
  7. Check the air compressor discharge pipe for carbon restriction.
  8. Clean or replace the air compressor discharge pipe as needed.
  9. Check the governor cut-in and cut-out pressures.
  10. Adjust the governor cut-in and cut-out pressures as needed. Refer to Air Compressor Governor Valve Adjustment .
