Heater Inlet Pipe Replacement L18

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the right wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
  2. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 8.1L.
  3. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  4. Reposition the inlet hose clamp from the heater core inlet pipe.
  5. Disconnect the inlet hose from the heater core.

  6. Object Number: 688146  Size: SH
  7. Remove the bolts (4) and (6) from the inlet pipe brackets.
  8. Remove the nut (3) from the inlet pipe bracket.
  9. Remove the heater inlet pipe from the engine.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the heater inlet pipe to the engine.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the nut (3) to the inlet pipe bracket.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the bolts (4) and (6) to the inlet pipe brackets.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  7. Connect the inlet hose to the heater core.
  8. Install the clamp.
  9. Fill the engine with coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling in Engine Cooling.
  10. Install the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls - 8.1L.
  11. Install the right wheelhouse panel. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
