Heater Inlet Pipe Replacement L18
Removal Procedure
- Remove the right wheelhouse panel. Refer to
Wheelhouse Panel Replacement
in Body Front End.
- Remove the air cleaner. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
in Engine Controls - 8.1L.
- Drain the engine coolant. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
in Engine Cooling.
- Reposition the inlet hose clamp from the heater core inlet pipe.
- Disconnect the inlet hose from the heater core.
- Remove the bolts (4) and
(6) from the inlet pipe brackets.
- Remove the nut (3) from the inlet pipe bracket.
- Remove the heater inlet pipe from the engine.
Installation Procedure
- Install the heater inlet pipe to the engine.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the nut (3) to the inlet pipe bracket.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the bolts (4)
and (6) to the inlet pipe brackets.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Connect the inlet hose to the heater core.
- Install the clamp.
- Fill the engine with coolant. Refer to
Cooling System Draining and Filling
in Engine Cooling.
- Install the air cleaner. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
in Engine Controls - 8.1L.
- Install the right wheelhouse panel. Refer to
Wheelhouse Panel Replacement
in Body Front End.
