Circuit Description

The Park Brake Indicator illuminates when ground is applied through the Park Brake Switch. The indicator also grounds through the ignition switch when the ignition switch is in the START position.

Did you review the Park Brake Description and Operation?

  1. Observe the Park Brake Indicator.
  2. Turn the ignition to the START position.

Does the Park Brake Indicator illuminate?

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the Park Brake Switch.
  2. Connect a fused jumper wire from the Park Brake Indicator Control Circuit to a good ground. Refer to Using Fused Jumper Wires in Wiring Systems.

Does the Park Brake lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Test the Park Brake Indicator Ground Circuit for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the Park Brake Indicator Control Circuit for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
