Fuel Hose/Pipes Replacement - Chassis W/ Left Fuel Tank

Removal Procedure

  1. Relieve the fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  3. Object Number: 728517  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the chassis fuel feed (5) or fuel return (6) pipe from the engine fuel feed (4) or fuel return (2) pipe. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .

  5. Object Number: 728962  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the fuel feed pipe (4) from the fuel filter (3). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  7. Disconnect the chassis fuel return pipe from the intermediate fuel return pipe. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  8. Remove the three retaining straps (1) and spacers from the fuel pipe bundle.
  9. Remove the fuel pipes.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 728962  Size: SH
  1. Position the fuel pipes to the chassis.
  2. Install the spacers and three new retaining straps (1) to the fuel pipe bundle and chassis brackets.
  3. Connect the chassis fuel return pipe to the intermediate fuel return pipe. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  4. Connect the fuel feed pipe (4) to the fuel filter (3). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .

  5. Object Number: 728517  Size: SH
  6. Connect the chassis fuel feed (5) or fuel return pipe (6) to the engine fuel feed (4) or fuel return (2) pipe. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  7. Lower the vehicle.
  8. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  9. Inspect for fuel leaks using the following procedure:
  10. 8.1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF for 2 seconds.
    8.2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
    8.3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
    8.4. Inspect for fuel leaks.

Removal Procedure

  1. Relieve the fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  2. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  3. Object Number: 728517  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the chassis fuel feed (5) pipe from the engine fuel feed pipe. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .

  5. Object Number: 728962  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the fuel feed pipe (4) from the fuel filter (3). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  7. Remove the three retaining straps (1) and spacers from the fuel pipe bundle.
  8. Remove the fuel pipes.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the fuel pipe to the chassis.
  2. Install the spacers and three new retaining straps (1) to the fuel pipe bundle and chassis brackets.

  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  8. Inspect for fuel leaks using the following procedure:
  9. 7.1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF for 2 seconds.
    7.2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
    7.3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
    7.4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
