  1. Apply the park brake.
  2. Observe the park brake pump motor.

Does the park brake pump motor continue to run?

Observe the park brake pressure solenoid valve while disconnecting the park brake pressure solenoid valve.

Does the park brake pressure solenoid valve click when it is disconnected?

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the dash park brake switch harness connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp from the dash park brake switch harness connector terminal B to chassis ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 4

Locate and repair the short to voltage in CKT 1931 (YEL/BLK) between the dash park brake switch, the park brake control module, and the park brake pressure solenoid valve.

Is the repair complete?

--

System OK

--

  1. Connect a DMM from the park brake pressure solenoid valve terminal A to B.
  2. Measure the resistance.

Is the resistance between the specified limits?

5.2 ohms-5.7 ohms@ 25°C (77°F)

  1. Slowly loosen the pipe fitting between the actuator and the park brake pressure solenoid valve.
  2. Observe if any fluid is leaving the fitting.

Is any fluid leaving the fitting?

Replace the park brake pressure solenoid valve. Refer to Park Brake Solenoid Valve Replacement .
