Models:1998-2002 Chevrolet and GMC C7500 Series Medium Duty Conventional Cab Models
With Caterpillar® Diesel Engine and Access Hood (RPO BQC)

Condition

Some customers may comment that the radiator surge tank cap contacts the underside of the hood.

Correction

Move the radiator surge tank rearward 13 mm (0.50 in) by installing spacers between the surge tank and the mounting bracket. This will increase the space between the surge tank and the hood reinforcement preventing the rub condition. Use the procedure and part numbers listed below.

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Remove the radiator surge tank bolts and discard. Longer bolts will be required.
  3. Remove the radiator surge tank from the mounting bracket.
  4. Install the four spacers, the new bolts, and the radiator surge tank to the mounting bracket.
  5. Tighten
Tighten the radiator surge tank bolts to 13 N·m (115 in lb).

  6. Close the hood.
