Service VME - Recent Shipment of Flexible Spare Tire Hoist Tool - kw 04-03-10-002 lower wheel information

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

Service Bulletin 04-30-10-002 was released to inform dealers that the Flexible Spare Tire Hoist Tool (P/N 15095519) is now available from GMSPO. The purpose of this tool is to assist with removing the spare tire from 1999-2001 model year Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra vehicles if the underbody hoist cannot be lowered using the jack handle extension supplied with the vehicle.

This tool was originally supplied to customers at no charge through a special program, which began on September 23, 2002 and ended December 31, 2003. Customers must now purchase this tool through their local dealer. In order to ensure immediate availability, we recently shipped each Chevrolet and GMC dealer seven (7) Flexible Spare Tire Hoist Tools at no charge. These tools can be sold to customers, added to vehicles in used car inventory or used in the shop whenever an affected vehicle must be serviced and the spare tire removed. These tools should arrive at dealers within the next few days.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
