- Install the upper oil
pan to the engine block. Ensure the oil level indicator tube is installed
into the upper oil pan.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the upper oil pan bolts and any brackets.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts in the proper sequence to 21 N·m (15 lb ft).
- Install the engine flywheel housing to upper oil pan bolts denoted by
the black triangles.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
- Install the bolts and
the battery positive and negative cable bracket to the front of the upper
oil pan.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).
- Install the nut and the
battery positive and negative cable bracket from the right side of the upper
oil pan.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 8 N·m (71 lb in).
