Boost Sensor Replacement California Emissions

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 813243  Size: SH
  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Loosen the outlet duct clamp at the upper intake manifold cover.
  3. Remove he upper intake manifold cover from the outlet duct.
  4. Remove the upper intake manifold cover.

  5. Object Number: 788842  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the boost pressure sensor.
  7. Remove the bolt (2) retaining the boost pressure sensor bracket.
  8. Disconnect the vacuum line from the sensor.
  9. Remove the boost pressure sensor and the bracket.
  10. Remove the bracket from the sensor.
  11. Inspect the boost pressure sensor seal for damage and replace as necessary.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the bracket over the sensor.

  2. Object Number: 788842  Size: SH
  3. Install the boost pressure sensor and bracket assembly.
  4. Connect vacuum line to boost sensor.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the retaining bolt (2).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  8. Connect the electrical connector (1) to the boost pressure sensor.

  9. Object Number: 813243  Size: SH
  10. Install the upper intake manifold cover.
  11. Install the upper intake manifold cover to the outlet duct.
  12. Tighten the outlet duct clamp at the upper intake manifold cover.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the clamp to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

Boost Sensor Replacement Federal Emissions

Removal Procedure

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Remove the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 740438  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector (2) from the boost pressure sensor (3).
  5. Remove the nut (4) retaining the boost pressure sensor bracket and the coolant tube.
  6. Lift the coolant tube (1) off of the stud and move it out of the way.

  7. Object Number: 740442  Size: SH
  8. Remove the boost pressure sensor (2) and the bracket (1) from the intake manifold.
  9. Remove the bracket from the sensor.
  10. Inspect the boost pressure sensor seal for damage and replace as necessary.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 740442  Size: SH
  1. Position the bracket (1) over the sensor (2).
  2. Install the boost pressure sensor into the intake manifold and guide the bracket over the stud.

  3. Object Number: 740438  Size: SH
  4. Position the coolant tube (1) over the stud.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the retaining bolt (4).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  8. Connect the electrical connector (2) to the boost pressure sensor (3).
  9. Install the air cleaner outlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Outlet Duct Replacement .
