Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve solenoid (1).

  3. Object Number: 788856  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the EGR valve solenoid vacuum lines (1).

  5. Object Number: 788880  Size: SH
  6. Remove the EGR valve solenoid bolt (1) and the solenoid.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 788880  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the EGR valve solenoid and the bolt (1).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten bolt to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  3. Connect the EGR valve solenoid vacuum lines (1).

  4. Object Number: 788836  Size: SH
  5. Connect the EGR valve electrical connector (1).
  6. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
