Did you review the system and circuit description and perform the necessary inspections?

Verify the fault is present.

Does the system operate normally?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the selectable ride switch. Refer to Electronic Suspension Switch Replacement .
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Connect a test lamp between the ignition 1 voltage circuit and a good ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Connect a test lamp between the selectable ride switch control circuit and a good ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 10

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Reconnect the selectable ride switch.
  3. Connect a test lamp and back probe, between the selectable ride switch control circuit and a good ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  5. While back probing, turn the selectable ride switch from ON to OFF or FIRM to NORM.

Does the test lamp illuminate in the ON position and off in the OFF position?

  1. Ensure the selectable ride switch is in the ON or FIRM position and the ignition is in the ON position.
  2. Gain access to connector at the Underhood Fuse Block.
  3. Connect a test lamp and back probe, between the selective ride switch control circuit and a good ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 7

  1. Inspect the electrical connections at each shock.
  2. Inspect the ground for both the front and the rear shocks to be clean and tight.
  3. Ensure that all the connections are clean and tight and free of corrosion.

Did you find the condition?

Go to Step 12

Test the ignition 1 voltage circuit for an open or a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Repair the short to ground in the selectable ride switch control circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 14

Repair the short to voltage in the selectable ride switch control circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in the selectable ride switch control circuit between the switch and the Underhood Junction Block. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the conditions as necessary. Refer to the appropriate procedure in Wiring Systems from the following list:

    •  Wiring Repairs
    •  Connector Repairs
