Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 664832  Size: SH
  1. Remove the transmission oil level indicator.
  2. Remove the left and right exhaust manifold pipe nuts.

  3. Object Number: 394459  Size: SH
  4. Remove the insulator nuts from the exhaust manifold pipe hanger bracket/heat shield.
  5. Remove the hanger bracket/heat shield bolts.
  6. Remove the crossmember. Refer to Transmission Support Replacement in Frame and Underbody.
  7. Lower the transmission.

  8. Object Number: 396797  Size: SH
  9. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
  10. Disconnect the oil cooler lines at the transmission. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement .
  11. Remove the indicator tube bracket nut.

  12. Object Number: 396798  Size: SH
  13. Remove the oil level indicator tube.
  14. Remove the seal from the transmission case, if necessary.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 396798  Size: SH
  1. Install a new seal into the transmission case, if necessary.
  2. Install the oil level indicator tube.

  3. Object Number: 396797  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the indicator tube nut.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 18 N·m (13 lb ft).

  6. Connect the oil cooler lines at the transmission. Refer to Transmission Fluid Cooler Hose/Pipe Replacement .
  7. Remove thee drain pan from under the vehicle.
  8. Raise the transmission.
  9. Install the crossmember. Refer to Transmission Support Replacement in Frame and Underbody.

  10. Object Number: 394459  Size: SH
  11. Install the insulator nuts to the exhaust manifold pipe hanger bracket/heat shield.
  12. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application.   13. Install the hanger bracket/heat shield bolts.
  14. Tighten

        • Tighten the bolts to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).
        • Tighten the nuts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  15. Tighten the left and right exhaust manifold pipe nuts.
  16. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  17. Check the fluid level. Refer to Transmission Fluid Check .
  18. Install the transmission oil level indicator.
