Schematic Reference: Memory Seats Schematics

DEFINITION: One or more of the memory set or recall functions are inoperative.

Did you review the Memory Seats Description and Operation?

Attempt to set and recall memory 1 and memory 2 seat position settings.

Does the system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the memory seat module connector C3.
  2. Turn the ignition ON with the engine OFF.
  3. Place the vehicle in PARK.
  4. Connect a test lamp from the shift lock control switch supply circuit terminal in the memory seat module harness connector to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

  1. Connect a test lamp from the memory 1 switch signal circuit terminal in the memory seat module harness connector to ground.
  2. Press the memory 1 switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate only when the switch is pressed?

Go to Step 5

  1. Connect a test lamp from the memory 2 switch signal circuit terminal in the memory seat module harness connector to ground.
  2. Press the memory 2 switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate only when the switch is pressed?

Go to Step 6

  1. Connect a test lamp from the memory set switch signal circuit terminal in the memory seat module harness connector to ground.
  2. Press the memory SET switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate only when the switch is pressed?

  1. Disconnect the memory recall switch assembly connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp from the battery positive voltage supply circuit terminal in the memory recall switch assembly harness connector to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test the memory 1 switch signal circuit for the following conditions:

    • Open
    • Short to ground
    • Short to voltage

Test the memory 2 switch signal circuit for the following conditions:

    • Open
    • Short to ground
    • Short to voltage

Test the memory set switch signal circuit for the following conditions:

    • Open
    • Short to ground
    • Short to voltage

Test the shift lock control switch supply circuit to the memory seat module for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the battery voltage supply circuit to the memory recall switch assembly for an open or short to ground. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the memory recall switch assembly. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the memory seat module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
