Some customers may comment when using the Secondary Information Center (SIC) and scrolling through either the Fuel, Trip or Menu modes, a blank screen shows on the display and the On/Off button will not turn On the display. This is a system design that is normal and no repairs are necessary. The customer needs to press either the Fuel, Trip or Menu button to get the display to return. The On/Off button is only used when the SIC is in the Trip mode. The On/Off button will not turn the display on or off. Refer to Section 2- Features and Controls, Trip, in the Owners Manual for proper operation or Driver Information Center (DIC) Description and Operation in the Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console sub-section of the Service Manual.

Some customers may also comment that the clock will not run and the date is set to Thursday 1 January 1998 on the SIC. This is also a system design that is normal. The clock will not run until the correct Day/Date/Time have been set on the SIC. Refer to Section 2- Features and Controls, Day/Date/Time, in the Owners Manual or Driver Information Center (DIC) Description and Operation in the Instrument Panel, Gauges, and Console sub-section of the Service Manual.

The Dealer needs to make sure the SIC Day/Date/Time is set at the time of delivery. After a battery reconnection, the Day/Date/Time will return to January 1, 1998 12:00 AM and the Day/Date/Time will need to be reset.
