Condition

Some customers may comment that there is rust forming on the back side of the front bumper. This can be seen through the two air holes in the bumper.

Correction

  1. Open the hood and remove the upper air deflector (radiator support to grille) and the retainers.
  2. Remove the grille assembly, the two screws and the retainers from the vehicle.
  3. Disconnect the fog lamps.
  4. Remove the two lower bolts from the RH/LH bumper brackets.
  5. Remove the four upper bracket bolts from the RH/LH bumper brackets.
  6. Remove the front bumper assembly and place it in a suitable work area.
  7. Remove the upper bumper trim cover from the bumper/bar assembly.
  8. Remove the RH/LH fog lamp assemblies and the four retainer bolts from the bumper/bar.
  9. Mark the position of the brackets to the bumper location.
  10. Remove all four bumper brackets and retainer bolts from the bumper/bar assembly.
  11. Remove the front bumper air deflector/fascia and the three-piece style retainer clips (17 total).
  12. Remove the four fog lamp and four bracket clip-on style nuts from the bumper/bar.
  13. Power wash or hand wash the bumper.
  14. Abrade the bumper with a *ScotchBriteâ„¢ Roloc Disc #07461.
  15. Blow off the bumper.
  16. Wipe down the part and degrease.
  17. Read the manufacturer's directions for the *POR-15 Starter Kit.
  18. Apply *Metal Ready per the manufacturer's directions.
  19. Apply a coat with a brush of POR-15 per the manufacturer's directions.
  20. Apply a second coat after four hours per the manufacturer's directions.
  21. Remove excess paint from the bumper with lacquer thinner.
  22. Install the four fog lamps and four bracket clip-on style nuts to the refinished/new bumper/bar.
  23. Install the front bumper air deflector/fascia and the three-piece style retainer clips (17 total).
  24. Install the four bumper brackets and the retainer bolts to the bumper/bar assembly.
  25. Install the RH/LH fog lamp assemblies and the four retainer bolts to the bumper/bar.
  26. Install the upper bumper trim cover to the bumper/bar assembly.
  27. Install the front bumper assembly to the vehicle.
  28. Install and snug the four upper bracket bolts to the RH/LH bumper brackets.
  29. Install the two lower bracket bolts to the RH/LH bumper brackets.
  30. Connect the fog lamps.
  31. Tighten the four upper bracket bolts to RH/LH bumper brackets.
  32. Install the grille assembly, the two screws and the retainers to the vehicle.
  33. Install the upper air deflector (radiator support to grille) and the retainers.
  34. Close the hood.
