Install the drive belt (1) to the drive
pulleys, if equipped with a single generator and vacuum pump (California emissions).
Install the drive belt (1) over all of
the pulleys except the tensioner pulley, if equipped with a single generator (Federal
emissions).
Install a 3/8 inch breaker bar into the tensioner opening and rotate the tensioner
counterclockwise.
Route the drive belt over tension pulley.
Slowly release the tension on the tensioner arm.
Inspect for proper drive belt installation.
Avoid mis-positioning the drive belt by
one or more grooves.
Confirm the proper drive belt size and the
correct drive belt routing by observing the location of the pointer and index marks
on the drive belt tensioner. With a new drive belt installed the pointer should align
within the index marks on the drive belt tensioner.
With a used drive belt installed the pointer
should not align past the index marks.
