  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the supplemental brake assist (SBA) harness connector.
  3. Connect a test lamp between ignition 1 and a good ground.
  4. Turn ON the ignition.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test each SBA ground circuit for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Use a DMM to measure the voltage between the vehicle speed signal circuit and a good ground.

Does the voltage measure greater than the specified value?

Use a DMM to measure the voltage between the supplemental brake assist circuit and a good ground.

Does the voltage measure greater than the specified value?

11 V

  1. Remove the instrument panel cluster (IPC). Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  2. Test the supplemental brake assist signal circuit for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Remove the IPC from the instrument panel (I/P). Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  3. Turn ON the ignition.
  4. Connect a test lamp between the SBA signal circuit and ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?
