Removal Procedure

  1. Release the park brake.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  3. Object Number: 791349  Size: SH
  4. For all 15 series vehicles, relieve the tension from the park brake cable by pulling down on the park brake cable in front of the equalizer then removing the cables from the equalizer bar.
  5. For 25/35 series vehicles, disable the park brake cable automatic adjuster. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Disabling .
  6. For 25/35 series vehicles, disconnect the intermediate cable from the rear park brake cable.

  8. Disconnect the intermediate cable from the front cable.
  9. Remove the intermediate cable from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the intermediate cable to the vehicle.

  2. Object Number: 363830  Size: SH
  3. Connect the intermediate cable to the front cable.
  4. For 25/35 series vehicles, connect the intermediate cable to the rear park brake cable.
  5. For 15 series vehicles, install the rear park brake cables to the equalizer.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. For 15 series vehicles, install the equalizer and the nut to the threaded end of the intermediate cable.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 3.5 N·m (31 lb in).

  9. For 25/35 series vehicles, enable the park brake cable automatic adjuster. Refer to Parking Brake Cable Adjuster Enabling .
  10. Remove the safety stands and lower the vehicle.
  11. Adjust the park brake system. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment .
