Notice: Placing items that weigh more than 200 lbs (90 kg) on the battery box may cause damage to the battery box and electrical system. Never place items weighing more than 200 lbs (90 kg) on the battery box.

If you will not be using your vehicle for a period of 30 days or more, you will need to disconnect 42-volt battery power from the vehicle to prevent the batteries from discharging.

Open the passenger side rear door to access the battery box. The battery disconnect switch is located on the passenger side of the battery box.

To access the battery disconnect switch and disconnect battery power, do the following:

  1. Turn the ignition key to LOCK.

  2. Object Number: 1203265  Size: B4
  3. Grab the tab at the top of the access door and pull the top of the door out.
  4. Pull the access cover up and out from the access opening. Let the door hang from the tether.

  5. Object Number: 1203271  Size: B4
  6. Locate the battery disconnect switch.
  7. Turn the switch counterclockwise until it stops.
  8. The 42-volt battery power is now disconnected from the vehicle.

    This switch can be removed when it is in the off (no power) position.

    When you are ready to reconnect battery power to the vehicle, turn the switch clockwise until it stops.

  9. Reinstall the access door by first placing the tab on the access door into the slot on the lower edge of the battery box access opening.
  10. Push the corners of the access door in until they snap into place.

If your 42-volt battery system is disconnected due to an airbag inflation or right-side impact, you must take your vehicle to a qualified service technician to have the 42-volt battery system reconnected. See What Will You See After an Airbag Inflates? for more information.
