When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

When completing normal SI diagnostics for the 04 6.6L LLY turbocharger, you may be directed to document ID number 1393883 for the turbocharger learn procedure.

1. Be sure to disregard steps 4 and 5 of the turbo learn procedure, the Tech 2 DOES NOT contain provisions for the turbocharger relearn.
2. The 04 6.6L LLY turbocharger relearn should occur automatically in step #3 when engine temperature exceeds 72 degrees C or 162 degrees F.
3. The Tech 2 scan tool may or may not show TC vane position learned as "YES". Currently Engineering is working on a resolution concerning the Tech 2 turbocharger learn status. If a repair is made to the turbocharger system, and the initial customer concern has not reoccurred, return the vehicle to the customer for evaluation.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
