Defroster Door Replacement Visteon
Removal Procedure
- Remove the HVAC module assembly. Refer to
HVAC Module Assembly Replacement
.
- Remove the HVAC module assembly screws.
- Separate the HVAC module assembly.
- Remove the mode actuator screws.
- Remove the mode actuator (3).
- Remove the mode actuator cam assembly (4).
- Remove the defroster door lever (2).
- Remove the defroster door (1).
Installation Procedure
- Install the defroster door (1).
- Install the defroster door lever (2).
- Install the mode actuator cam assembly (4).
- Install the mode actuator (3).
- Install the mode actuator screws.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the mode actuator screws.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1.6 N·m (14 lb in).
- Install the HVAC module assembly halves.
- Install the screws to the HVAC module assembly.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1.6 N·m (14 lb in).
- Install the HVAC module assembly. Refer to
HVAC Module Assembly Replacement
.
Defroster Door Replacement Delphi
Removal Procedure
- Remove the HVAC module. Refer to
HVAC Module Assembly Replacement
.
- If equipped remove the heat stakes (1) from the HVAC module (2) with a screw driver and a hammer.
- If equipped remove the HVAC module assembly screws.
- Separate the HVAC module assembly.
- Remove the mode actuator screws.
- Remove the mode actuator.
- Remove the mode actuator cam assembly.
- Remove the defroster door (8).
Installation Procedure
- Install the defroster door (8).
- Install the mode actuator cam assembly.
- Install the mode actuator.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant

- Install the screws to the HVAC module assembly.
Tighten

Defroster Door Replacement Heat Only
Removal Procedure
- Remove the heater/vent module. Refer to
Heater/Vent Module Replacement

- Remove the heater/vent module screws.
- Separate the heater/vent module.
- Remove the mode actuator screws.
- Remove the mode actuator (3).
- Remove the mode actuator cam assembly (4).
- Remove the defroster door lever (2).
- Remove the defroster door (1).
Installation Procedure
- Install the defroster door (1).
- Install the defroster door lever (2).
- Install the mode actuator cam assembly (4).
- Install the mode actuator (3).
- Install the mode actuator screws.
