The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
The customer concern will be a accessory drive belt chirp when the engine is shut off. The customer may say the noise is worse than his earlier model year diesel engine.
Accessory drive belt chirp when the engine is shut off is a characteristic of the diesel engine.
The 2006 diesel engine generator output has been increased. The belt chirp on a 2006 diesel engine may be slightly worse than a older model vehicle.
Do not attempt repairs for drive belt chirp if it occurs when the engine is turned off.
If the belt noise occurs at any other time, complete SI diagnostics for the belt noise or symptom found.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
