Fuel Tank Bracket and Mounting Replacement Pickup
Removal Procedure
- Remove the CNG fuel tank. Refer to
Fuel Tank Replacement
.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information in the C/K Pickup service
manual.
- Remove the exhaust system heat shields.
- Remove and discard the frame support bracket
nuts (3).
- Remove the frame support brackets (4).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the CNG fuel tank mounting frame.
- Discard the fuel tank frame mounting bolts.
Installation Procedure
- Position the CNG fuel tank mounting frame into the bed using new mounting
bolts.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information in the C/K Pickup service
manual.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the frame support brackets (4) using new nuts (3).
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 81 N·m (60 lb ft).
- Install the exhaust system heat shields
and bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 9 N·m (80 lb in).
- Install the CNG fuel tank. Refer to
