Owners of some 1985-93 G3 model vans, may comment that the vehicle makes noise on turns, or has a slapping sound while driving over bumps.
This may be caused by the front stabilizer bushing at the lower control arm working its way out of the mounting clamp. This condition occurs due to limiting stack conditions when the working angles of the stabilizer bar (frame to lower control arm relationship) cause forces which will work the bushing out of the control arm mounting clamp.
To correct this condition, new stabilizer brackets and bushings, located on the frame, can be installed. The new parts will position the stabilizer bar approximately .4 inches lower than the existing parts.
The new stabilizer brackets and bushings were used on vans starting with the following VIN breakpoint:
GMC Truck PF516028

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
