L/H VENT WINDOW WIND NOISE

SUBJECT: L/H VENT WINDOW WIND NOISE (REPLACE L/H VENT WINDOW ASSEMBLY)

MODELS: 1992-94 CHEVROLET AND GMC TRUCK G VANS

CONDITION:

SOME CUSTOMERS MAY DESCRIBE A HIGH-PITCH WHISTLING SOUND, THAT COULD BE PERCEIVED AS CABIN PRESSURE BUILD-UP. THEY MAY ALSO COMMENT OF A WIND NOISE THAT ORIGINATES IN THE RADIUS "NOSE" AREA OF THE L/H VENT WINDOW.

CAUSE:

SOME OF THE RUBBER SEALS ON THE L/H VENT WINDOW ASSEMBLIES WEREN'T PROPERLY SEALING AGAINST THE VENT GLASS FRAME. THIS CONDITION HAS ONLY BEEN ASSOCIATED WITH THE L/H VENT ASSEMBLY IN THE RADIUS AREA OF THE VENT FRAME. THIS CONDITION ALLOWS AIR TO ENTER BETWEEN THE VENT GLASS RADIUS AND THE VENT WINDOW SEAL, THUS CREATING A WIND NOISE.

CORRECTION:

THIS CONDITION HAS BEEN CORRECTED BY ENHANCEMENTS TO THE L/H VENT SEAL RUBBER. THESE ENHANCEMENTS ARE NOT NOTICEABLE TO THE EYE, BUT ALL VENT ASSEMBLIES PRODUCED AFTER AUGUST 10, 1994 WILL CONTAIN THE ENHANCEMENTS. A STICKER IS ATTACHED TO THE VERTICAL SUPPORT BRACE OF THE VENT ASSEMBLY. THE STICKER IS SIMILAR TO A RETAIL PRICE STICKER, AND IT CARRIES THE MONTH THE VENT ASSEMBLY WAS MANUFACTURED, FOLLOWED BY THE DAY, AND THE YEAR. PROPERLY INSTALLED L/H VENT WINDOW ASSEMBLIES THAT WERE PRODUCED AFTER 8 10 94 SHOULD NOT PRODUCE WIND NOISE CONCERNS. THERE HAS BEEN NO PART NUMBER CHANGE AND GMSPO HAS CORRECTED INVENTORY.
