- Disconnect the generator connector.
- Turn the ignition to RUN with the engine OFF.
- Connect a voltmeter set at DC scale between the generator connector
terminal L and ground.

| Move the voltmeter lead from terminal L to the generator BAT terminal.

- Check for open or bad connections in CKT 25 between the generator
BAT terminal and I/P terminal C12 (Chevrolet) and A14 (Pontiac).
- Check for an open in fuse 9 or CKT 39 to I/P. (If there is an
open in fuse 9 or CKT 39, the I/P will not operate correctly.)
- Repair any opens or bad connections.

- Run the engine at fast idle with all of the accessories OFF.
- Connect a voltmeter set at the DC scale across the battery terminals.

| Check for an open in CKT 1 between the generator BAT terminal and the
battery. Repair the open as necessary.
