Removal Procedure

If the generator drive pulley is found to be loose, it can normally be tightened without removing the generator from the vehicle.

Remove the accessory drive belt from the generator.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install an offset box end wrench to the pulley nut.
  2. Install a torque wrench with a quarter-inch hex drive to the hex hole in the end of the generator drive shaft to hold.
  3. Tighten
Tighten the generator pulley nut to 100 N·m (74 lb ft).

Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the accessory drive belt to the generator.
