Some 1988-89 C/K Trucks may experience a loosening of the rear shock absorbers' lower attachment. This condition may be repaired by retorquing the bottom shock absorber retaining nuts to a revised specification of 95-110 Nm (70-82 lbs/ft). Please note this revised specification in Service Manual X- 8931, Section 3D, and reference this section for shock absorber service.
If a truck is serviced for a loose rear shock, both rear shock absorbers should be checked and torqued to the new specification.
When retorquing loose shock absorbers on vehicles covered by warranty, use:
