FRONT DOOR PILLAR SQUEAK ANTI-SQUEAK TAPE AVAILABLE

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1988 C/K TRUCKS -----------------

Some 1988 C/K models may develop a, squeaking sound from the front door "A" pillar area. This condition is caused by an interference fit between the "A" pillar windshield molding and inside upper door edge.

To correct this condition, wipe clean the upper door edge and apply urethane (anti-squeak) tape P/N 15605821 to both front doors.

The length of tape for each door is approximately 27.5 inches. Apply the tape as shown in figure one. Care should be taken not to extend the tape over the door edge.

Usage of this tape in production began with the following VIN breakpoints:

Pontiac East Chevrolet JE106599 GMC JE502478

Fort Wayne Chevrolet JZ107575 GMC JZ501721

Oshawa Chevrolet J1115250 GMC J1505382

Notice: Some dealers have been removing this tape during pre-delivery inspection. This should NOT be done, as removal of the tape could create a squeak condition.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
